چکیده

The cultivation of adult human cells of normal origin has become a routine procedure during the past several years (4). Among the first stable epithelial-like (Ep-L) cell lines derived from nor mal human tissues were those established by Chang (1954) (5) from conjunctiva, liver, kidney, and appendix. Although the HeLa strain of cells from cancer tissue had been available before this time, there were objections to the use of cell strains derived from cancers for the cultivation of viruses for vaccine production, or in experi ments designed to explain the normal biology of human cells. The development of stable cell lines1 from normal tissue was at first thought to

Stimulation of proliferation of human myeloid leukemia cells in culture: applications for cytogenetic analysis.

The use of chromosome banding techniques has provided a valuable diagnostic tool in various malignancies. The application of these methods, however, is often restricted by a low yield of mitotic cells and the patient's unwillingness to comply with repeated bone marrow aspiration. In an attempt to promote mitotic activity of leukemic cells from the bone marrow and peripheral blood, we employed a...

Comparison of the effect of platelet lysate derived from umbilical cord blood and peripheral blood on the expansion and differentiation of MSCs

Abstract Background and Objectives Proliferation and differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in culture media requires the presence of nutrient supplements such as bovine fetal serum (FBS), which increases the risk of prion/xenotic infections. Platelet lysates as a rich source of growth factors and cytokines can replace FBS in cell culture medium. This study aimed to compare the effe...

Evaluation of a Genetic Test for Diagnose of Primary Hypolactasia in Northeast of Iran (Khorasan)

Objective(s) Primary or adult type hypolactasia, the most common enzyme deficiency in the world, is due to reduced lactase activity in the intestinal cell after weaning. Lactase non-persistence is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait. A DNA variant, single nucleotide polymorphism C/T−13910 which is located on 13910 base pairs (bp) upstream of the lactase gene (LCT) at chromosome 2 has been...

Interacting populations affecting proliferation of leukemic cells in culture.

Peripheral blood cells from three patients with acute leukemic have been studied using a suspension culture method previously described.1 Cytogenetic studies in two of the patients permitted the identification of the proliferating cells in the cultures as being derived from a leukemic population. Cell separation studies using velocity sedimentation supported the concept that growth of the leuke...
